Dochula Pass and the Fertility Temple

Today was a very interesting day and my fourth day in Bhutan. Tomorrow I am going on a trek to the Tiger’s Nest monastery and I’m so excited!

Anyway, there isn’t much to describe through words today as I have explained a lot about the architecture in previous blogs, so I will post pictures here.

1) Dochula Pass: You can see good views of the Greater Himalayan ranges of Bhutan over here. The skies weren’t all that clear today but we were able to see a few peaks. There are also 108 Stupas built to commemorate the passing of Bhutanese soldiers during a war.

2) Suspension Bridge: One of the longest suspension bridges in the world, right above the rivers of Punakha.

3) Punakha Dzong: Although this was closed when we went there, it was very beautiful from the outside. The King of Bhutan and Royal weddings also happen in this Dzong.

4) Chimi Lhakhang Fertility temple: They say all those who go to this temple are blessed with healthy children. Even those who had difficulties conceiving apparently were able to afterward (including tourists). Once the child is born, they come back again to take the lord’s blessings. They also name the child after the temple.

    1. That’s great. Please do not stay in this hotel called Norbuling. We stayed there and it was a really bad experience. Enjoyy 😀
