I’m starting a new feature where I suggest books for you to read every month based on my reads of the previous month. They are great travel companions too as they aren’t too heavy. Here are my suggested books for Feb:
1) All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Set during World War 2, this novel takes us through the journey of two different yet endearing characters. One is a blind and charming young French girl and the other is an intelligent German boy who loves radios. We get to know about their lives during the World War and learn a thing or two about how people can be kind to one another. The writing style in this book is simply sublime. This book also won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
2) The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
This book has one of the most hilarious and memorable protagonists that have ever been written. Don Tillman, a handsome forty-something geneticist, thinks only in compartments. Everything is scientific and logical and emotions don’t really have a place. That’s until he meets Rosie. This book is a must read!
3) A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George RR Martin
Written by George RR Martin, this book is set centuries before the current Song of Ice and Fire story line. The Targaryens are currently ruling at this point and the main characters are a hedge knight called Dunk and his squire Egg. A truly gripping book capturing the true essence of Game of Thrones.
4) Why is God Laughing by Deepak Chopra
An amazing book about an ordinary man who meets someone extraordinary and truly understands what it is like to be brave and free. This book is very spiritual and inspiring.
